We are looking for an experienced Web Accessibility Consultant to help modernize existing products and ensure they meet the highest accessibility standards. These products support educational institutions, teachers, parents, and students in managing and streamlining the learning process. Your work will directly improve usability for individuals with diverse accessibility needs.
Must haves
- 5+ years of experience in Accessibility, QA Accessibility, or UX Accessibility.
- Deep understanding of WCAG 2.1 AA and accessibility best practices.
- Strong ability to explain accessibility issues in clear, simple language.
- Experience performing accessibility reviews, audits, or assessments.
- Experience working with assistive technologies (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver).
- Ability to map issues to WCAG success criteria, explain impacts, and recommend remediation approaches.
- Experience participating in accessibility-related client discussions, including compliance or OCR remediation contexts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting findings to both technical and non-technical teams.
- Advanced English and the ability to collaborate with international teams and client stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Previous experience as Accessibility QA, Accessibility Lead, UX Accessibility Specialist, or Product Owner.
- Experience working with school or university websites.
- Experience training non-technical teams on accessibility principles.
- Accessibility certifications (CPACC, WAS, WAS-A).
- Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., Drupal, WordPress, or similar systems tailored to educational institutions).
- Familiarity with common accessibility audit tools (axe DevTools, ARC Toolkit, Accessibility Insights, WAVE).
- Familiarity with design tools (Figma, XD) for reviewing color contrast, components, and layout.
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS or frontend constraints to better evaluate feasibility and implementation requirements.
- Experience creating VPAT/ACR reports.
Key responsibilities
- Support the modernization of existing products with a strong focus on accessibility and inclusive user experience.
- Collaborate with customer design and development teams to ensure full accessibility for users with diverse needs.
- Participate in client-facing meetings, including OCR remediation cases and WCAG 2.1+–related discussions, clearly communicating findings and recommendations.
- Respond to internal and client questions regarding accessibility and related tools, educating stakeholders and clarifying processes (without delivering hands-on consulting or remediation).
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (Product, Support, Client Success, Professional Services) to address accessibility issues and maintain compliance across digital properties.
- Assist in prioritizing and escalating issues that cannot be resolved through standard workflows, ensuring proper visibility for the Product team.
