Our client is a global software-as-a-service company that builds a cloud-based data platform that enables the use of connected data and automation of reporting across finance, accounting, risk, and compliance, offering services to 85% of FORTUNE® 500 companies.
The initial focus will be on an existing backlog of Python scripts. This will include refactoring legacy scripts, improving and fixing existing functionality, and developing new scripts based on business requirements. Over time, the role is expected to evolve into a combination of maintaining and supporting the existing scripts, handling change requests, and contributing to new use cases.
Must-Haves
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python 3.10+, including modern language features and best practices.
- Experience working with APIs, SQL, data processing, scripting, or automation-related solutions.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
- Ability to perform end-to-end requirements analysis and translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
- Ability to understand, maintain, and incrementally improve existing code.
- Comfortable working autonomously while collaborating with distributed teams.
- Strong communication skills and fluent English, with the ability to interact with both technical, semi-technical, and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience with automation frameworks or internal scripting platforms.
- Experience maintaining or refactoring legacy scripts and internally developed solutions.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, automated testing, or cloud environments such as AWS or GCP.
- Exposure to sustainability, ESG, carbon accounting, regulatory reporting, or reporting-related solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Work with an internal Python-based scripting framework to build and extend automation functionality.
- Refactor, improve, and maintain existing Python scripts.
- Diagnose and resolve issues in current scripting workflows.
- Develop new scripts based on product and business requirements.
- Translate business requirements into practical Python-based technical solutions.
- Work on sustainability-related solutions such as carbon accounting and ESG reporting.
- Collaborate directly with product, data, engineering, business, and semi-technical stakeholders to clarify requirements, integrate solutions, and gather feedback.
- Support existing scripts and automation capabilities as requirements evolve.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the scripting framework and related automation capabilities.
